Garlic Naan Flatbread
I haven’t eaten frozen pratas or naan because the store-bought ones are always made with ingredients I don’t like giving our household easy access to.
I’ll also be honest that we tried a lot of greek yogurt bread recipes and they don’t turn out as well as the multi-step recipes they try to dupe. But this one is genius!
The naan bread turned our SO fluffy & chewy, with a crusty exterior! I’m so happy to share this on our blog:)
Prep time: 20 minutes
Cook time: <5 mins per flatbread
Servings: 8
Ingredients
1 3/4 cup self-raising flour
1 cup greek yogurt (NOT greek-style yogurt)
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Garlic butter glaze
~20g of salted butter
1 garlic clove, minced
Chopped fresh coriander leaves
Method
In a large bowl, mix all the dry ingredients, then add greek yogurt
Form a dough ball by kneading the mixture, add flour if it’s too sticky, but some sticking is fine. Alternatively, add greek yogurt if your mixture is too dry, 1 teaspoon at a time.
Add flour to a clean surface and continue kneading the dough. Then shape the dough into a square or rectangle, and divide into 8 equal parts.
Roll each part into dough balls and flatten them into the desired shape. Do not leave them too thick as it would be hard to cook the middle while the crust blisters and burns. Lightly flour the dough ball and surface if you need a smooth surface to work with.
Cook the flatbread in a nonstick pan, no oil is needed
While the flatbread is cooking, prepare your garlic butter glaze by mincing garlic and adding it to a microwave-safe bowl. Then add butter to the bowl and microwave on medium until butter is softened and lightly melted.
Next add the chopped coriander leaves and mix well
Glaze the cooked naan and enjoy! You can also enjoy the naan plain, or include your own variations, like with cheese, butter or onions.
